Irma Update 9-15-2017

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you for your patience and support and hope everyone is ok after the Hurricane. At this time, we are working with St. Johns County Recreation and Parks department to get the fields cleaned up so we can resume our season. With all the damage caused by Hurricane Irma, they just today began returning equipment and personnel to their perspective parks and assess the damage and begin cleanup.

Although the fields did not receive any major damage we did lose the roofs of 4 more dugouts on the lower fields. I have spoken with Dale Vaughn with Parks and Rec. and he assured me that they will do all they can to get the fields open as soon as possible. The safety of the kids is our top priority at this time.

I had planned to schedule a volunteer cleanup this weekend but was advised to let the county remove the damaged roofs before we do as they have the proper equipment and personnel to do so safely and hope to have this done very quickly.

Our hope is to resume our schedule on Monday Sept. 18th, but I would recommend everyone plan on Wednesday Sept. 20th. I understand that everyone is anxious to get back to it but we need to ensure that everyone can do so safely! I will reach out to all VP’s and have them communicate to the team managers to ensure everyone is current on the dates.

Thank you,

Tim Durand
